For young men and women aged 17 ½ – 26 years
Rovers is the place to be for personal challenge, adventure, life-long friendships and all sorts of memory-making moments! Where else could you perform on stage one week, abseil the next and then help your local environment group out with tree-planting the next?
Rovers offer so many opportunities for leadership and personal development. You can become a member of your Crew or WA Rover Council executive, leading your fellow Rovers through the year. You can get involved in the committees for one of the great annual Rover events, such as Sand Moot, the Ball, Mission Impossible, Gravel Moot or Medieval Feast. You have the opportunity to become a leader of a younger section. You can participate in nationally accredited training in leadership and management. You can organise a weekly activity for your Crew. And you can challenge yourself through the Baden – Powell Scout Award.
The Baden-Powell Scout Award is the highest youth award in Scouting, and is attained through setting yourself 4 challenges of your highest personal standard. Through the Award scheme you could find yourself restoring a vintage car, getting involved in your local volunteer fire brigade, leading a hike on foot, bike, kayak or yacht through some of the most magical places in the world, or learning to play a musical instrument. The possibilities are endless. Rovers have a motto of Service, and continually seek ways to help our community and environment. WA Rovers are involved regularly in projects such as ANZAC Day, giving blood, environmental work at Rottnest, helping with youth activities and a myriad of other things.
Being part of an international organisation, Rovering provides fantastic opportunities to travel. With Australian Rover Moots held every 3 years (held in a different state each time), World Rover Moots in places such as Sweden, Mexico, Taiwan and Mozambique held every 4 years, countless opportunities to attend Jamborees and Ventures as staff, as well as an open invitation to any Rover event, large or small, around Australia, you will be sure to make new friends in every corner of the globe, and see a fair bit of the world while you’re at it! But most of all, you will make close friends with people in your local area, through belonging a Crew that’s like a second family, with whom you will experience all the joys of taking control of your goals and your crazy ideas and turning them into the most amazing experiences you could hope for. |
